Conversion

LaTeX to EPUB, with the equations intact

Upload a LaTeX project and get an EPUB in which every formula is MathML, every cross-reference is a link and every chapter is where you put it. Word, InDesign and a TeX-set print PDF come from the same upload.

Where conversions usually break

An equation turned into a picture can't be resized, searched or read aloud, and raw TeX left in the text is unreadable on an e-reader. Cross-references that come out as plain text no longer take the reader anywhere.

PageBender finds the project's chapters, maths, tables, figures and labels, and writes each one in the form the EPUB needs.

What carries across

  • Equations as MathML. Display equations keep their numbers, and inline formulas sit on the line.
  • Cross-references to equations, figures, tables and sections, as working links.
  • Chapters and parts, front and back matter, in the order the project sets them.
  • Tables and figures, with their captions and numbering.
  • TikZ diagrams, drawn and placed as figures.
  • Accessibility: alt text, landmarks and an accessibility summary in the package.

Also from the same upload

A Kindle-ready copy with a Kindle pre-flight check, a Word file styled like the book, an InDesign IDML hand-off with its cross-references linked, and a print PDF set by TeX. Edits made in PageBender go into all of them.
